Workshops

This workshop is aimed at teachers who wish to explore the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching and learning. Participants will gain a basic understanding of how Large Language Models (LLMs) work, their capabilities and limitations, as well as their impact on shaping new pedagogical approaches. The workshop will introduce Teacher Mate and Study Buddy, two conversational assistants that utilize LLMs to support teachers and learners in different aspects of the educational process. Participants will explore, among other things, how this tool can be used in the creation of educational materials, lesson planning, assessment management, and personalized student support. Through hands-on activities, participants will have the opportunity to interact with the tool, experiment with its use, and design educational scenarios for its application in teaching practice.

This workshop offers a practical introduction to using Artificial Intelligence in STEM education to support Deeper Learning and real-time formative assessment. Participants will explore ready-to-use, AI-supported classroom scenarios that promote problem-solving and inquiry-based learning. The session focuses on how these scenarios are structured and how educators can implement them effectively to enhance student engagement and competence development.

This workshop will present an AI Competency Framework for teachers and an AI Readiness Model for schools, both designed to support the effective integration of Artificial Intelligence into education systems across Europe. Participants will explore a range of AI tools and engage with best practices for applying AI across different school subjects. The workshop aims to equip educators with essential skills and insights by addressing multiple dimensions of AI, ranging from technical competencies such as data literacy and machine learning to critical topics like ethics, bias, and responsible use in educational contexts.

This interactive workshop will explore the necessity of the development of a Teacher Academy on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in school education, building on the vision of the ACT-AI project. Participants will be introduced to such an Academy’s scope and philosophy, which seeks to equip teachers, school leaders, and education professionals with the knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding needed to integrate AI meaningfully into teaching and learning. Beyond presentation, the workshop will actively engage stakeholders (teachers, school leaders, education consultants, and policymakers) in collaborative activities to share experiences, raise challenges, and provide recommendations concerning AI in school education. By fostering dialogue across diverse educational actors, the workshop aims to showcase examples that are evidence-based, context-sensitive, and grounded in real-world applicability. The outcomes of the workshop will foster a model for AI-focused teacher professional development in Greece and Europe.
